After completing a DPhil. at Balliol College Oxford, Kevin joined ICI 1982. In 1989 he moved to Japan for two years to develop a Fine Chemicals business in the Asia/Pacific region. This was immediately followed by a four year stint in the USA in business management. With one child born in Japan and two in the USA, family life was very different for Kevin on his return to the UK in 1995. His first foray in Biotech and links with the NW Biotech Community was as General Manager of Cambridge Research Biochemicals (CRB), based near Northwich in Cheshire. The technology developed at CRB (a subsidiary of Zeneca) formed the basis of Avecia's world leading position in oligonucleotide manufacturing. In 2001, Kevin merged all the biotech interests of Avecia, including biologics, and created a business focusing on manufacturing services for Biopharmaceutical development. Avecia is now recognised as a leader in this field. Kevin is a member of the main board of Avecia and Managing director of Avecia Biologics Ltd. With a home in Cheshire and a head office in Manchester, he is very committed to supporting the continued growth of Biotechnology in the region.
