We are delighted to invite you to a seminar about the commercialisation of Intellectual Property.
We are all hoping to create/invent the "next big thing". However, taking your idea or concept to the next level can be a journey fraught with challenges and potholes. During this hour long seminar we will talk you through the most common legal and tax challenges faced by any start-up and growing businesses looking to bring a new concept to the market and offer you solutions.
Speakers:
Daniel Green, Phagenesis - CEO of Phagenesis will share his personal experiences of creating a successful business from a concept. He will discuss the trials and tribulations of growing the business and outline the lessons he learnt during the first years of growth.
Simon Wallwork, Semple Fraser - Partner in Semple Fraser's Corporate department, will deal with the implications for companies and their management teams, of funding structures and the requirements of early stage investors. He will also discuss directors' duties and liabilities, particularly in regard to early stage companies with limited funds available to them.
Philip French, Appleyard Lees - Head of Biotechnology at Appleyard Lees, will look at what needs to be considered when protecting your ideas, how you go about it and the common pitfalls to avoid.
Colin Smyth, Baker Tilly - Partner at Baker Tilly: The tax system can be daunting for Entrepreneurs with a hundred other plates to keep spinning and a business to run. There are many lucrative incentives available but each year many businesses fail to appreciate what they are entitled to, and even worse make some costly mistakes. Colin will explain the top 5 pitfalls, how to avoid them, and offer practical tips on the key tax issues for your business.
