In the region we have two ITAs, who can provide support for Trade and Internalisation activity as part of the UKTI program of support.

 


North West Business Link (NWBL)

NWBL is contracted to the NWDA to provide FREE general information, diagnostic and brokerage services to businesses, plus specialist brokers for the priority sectors:-

Mary Roberts
Biosector Broker - Mary Roberts

Mary joined Business Link Northwest in July 2007 four months into its new operational model across the whole of the North West. As a Biomedical Broker Mary is responsible for helping businesses flourish and grow by providing tailored support. Equipped with in depth industry knowledge, she works closely with businesses to help them move forward by linking business goals with practical solutions.
Before coming to Business Link Northwest Mary worked for MerseyBio (University of Liverpool) as Business Development Manager within the Life Sciences. Amongst many of her achievements Mary organised the Life Sciences Partnership Group - a forum for business support services to come together, she also managed the Merseyside Life Sciences Skills Survey. Mary has a wealth of sector experience behind her with 20 years target performance spent in the sales and marketing of scientific equipment in the manufacturing and service industries.
Mary has a BSc Honours degree in Chemistry.

Mike Matthews
Biosector Skills Broker, Train to Gain - Mike Matthews

Mike trained as an Industrial Engineer specialising in Instrumentation and Control processes and has worked for BNFL (Reactor Laboratories), MOD Microwave technologies, ICL/Fujitsu Design 2 Distribution and Celestica. He is also guest industrial practitioner/lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University for MSc in Manufacturing and part time lecturer in IT and Management at Tameside and Stockport Colleges. He is lead assessor for the Northwest Excellence awards (EFQM).
He joined Business Link as Workforce Development Specialist in 2001 as part of the team supporting business in Advanced Engineering, Energy & Environment, Digital & Creative, Food & Drink, Business and Professional Services. Mike is the Train to Gain skills broker for the biomedical sector in Business Link Northwest.

Medilink NW

Medilink NW is part of Medilink UK, a national network of regional healthcare organisations that helps to turn innovative healthcare technology ideas into profitable developments. The management of the Medilink NW franchise has recently been taken over by TrusTECH, the NHS IP Innovation Hub and is grant supported by NWDA (via Bionow), as part of the Biomedical Cluster Development Programme.

Michael Gill
Michael Gill - Project Director

"Michael Gill was appointed as Project Director of the newly 're-launched' Medilink North West in January 2006. Medilink North West is a not-for-profit organisation and is part of a national network, whose main objective is to stimulate growth in the medical and health technology sector by establishing effective and sustainable partnerships between universities, hospitals and industry within the North West region.

Prior to joining Medilink North West, Michael has worked in the private medical and health technology sector for most of his life. During Michael's career his has travelled the globe and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in marketing, sales, product development, intellectual property rights and regulatory affairs.



Biostars

Biostars is a business support programme designed to help life science businesses fulfill thir potential. Support includes mentoring and workshops focused on commercialisation, gaining customers and contracts and becoming 'investor ready'. Support is FREE to eligible companines. The programme is funded by ERDF objective 2 and the Northwest Development Agency.
