Intertek’s Pharmaceutical Services Division provides a global network of experts, GLP/ GCP and cGMP laboratories and specialists to deliver high quality support including GMP analysis, GLP/GCP bioanalysis for preclinical and clinical support, formulation development, GMP biologics characterization, specialist inhalation development expertise, regulatory consultancy, risk assessment, auditing and supply chain management solutions.

About the role
The core responsibility of this role is to contribute to the growth of sales for Intertek’s Biopharmaceutical Centre of Excellence in Manchester. This will involve developing and executing business plans and strategies to attract new and retain & grow existing clients. The role also includes working with Marketing and other Business Development team members to promote strategic areas of the business and identify new revenue streams.

Reporting into the Business Development Director, Intertek is now looking to recruit a dynamic character to build upon and further develop its pharmaceutical testing services. The role involves the following:

• Responsible for the local business development plan and strategies to attract new customers. Drive new business growth and grow existing client portfolio.
• Support a number of Key Account’s, working with the Operational teams to ensure full client satisfaction and account growth.
• Maintain and execute a dynamic client visit plan, with at least 3 months planned ahead, around growth and new client target accounts.
• Gain a clear understanding of the business model and value proposition, and the key targets for growth.
• Develop Sales and Marketing presentations, tools and material to promote the company’s services associated with pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical services.
• Liaison with Intertek within the business line and cross Business Lines to ensure cross selling opportunities where appropriate.
• Continually keeping abreast of latest developments in the industry through attending events, networking and industry associations.
• Drive profitable growth and cost control in areas of influence.
• Enhance client relationships through provision of professional support services & and customer care.

Business Development and Sales
• Drive business development and sales strategy
• Execute Sales Plans – Geography, Sector, Companies, and Associations
• Communicate value proposition and build market credibility & recognition
• Develop Quotations and Proposals, respond to Request for Quotations (RFQ) & manage pricing
• Maintain CRM system and actively contribute to dynamic sales forecast
• Develop Sale Tools - PPT, Proposal Templates, Case Studies
• Integrate Clients feedback into internal tracking tools and circulate with appropriate teams.
• Work with Marketing team on sector marketing strategies to build brand and drive sales

Key Account Management (Retention & Growth)
• Develop strategy to retain and expand existing clients supported by the accounts team
• Proactively grow and expand business with existing clients
• Proactively penetrate inactive clients and present value proposition

Strategic Innovation
• Provide feedback to the local senior management team on market & client needs to identify value creation opportunities
• Watch competition & identify external growth opportunities
• Work with local senior management team to identify initiatives to improve the overall client experience and develop efficiencies to the account management process.

Additional Information
Extensive travel is required is required Globally, mostly UK, EU and US and with the chance of travel to Asia.

About you

Required skills and experience
• Good IT literacy skills and competency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Degree holder or above with a minimum 3 years’ experience in contract research, pharmaceuticals or related area in a commercial/sales/business development role.
• A proven track record of new business generation, account management and development.
• Previous experience of being results orientated and exceeding objectives set for sales, revenue and profitability.
• Confidence in presenting and public speaking.
