Manchester BIOGEL is seeking an ambitious and highly driven individual who is eager to develop their career in technical sales.

This is an excellent opportunity to spearhead the sales of a fast-growing, dynamic, well-funded new company based at Alderley Park, Cheshire.

It will appeal to someone holding a science (or related) degree currently working in a business development or technical sales role within a contract research or pharmaceutical organisation or similar.

Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience and will include a commission plan plus benefits.

About the Role:

The core objective of this role is to harness the numerous potential sales opportunities and consequently achieve a significant growth of sales of Manchester BIOGEL’s hydrogel products. Supported by our scientific and operations team, you will develop and execute sales plans and strategies to target new clients and grow existing customers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Actively identify and leverage potential new business opportunities through research, networking and prospecting
• Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key customer decision-makers
• Analyse business opportunities to map out market potential thereby enabling appropriately targeted sales plans and strategies/solutions to be actioned
• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of all company technologies and products so you can answer customer technical questions and enquiries to a comprehensive level
• Establish good awareness of competing products and companies including monitoring and feeding back their positioning and pricing
• Train new and existing Team members so that the company builds on successful sales techniques and product selling points
• Communicate emerging or changing customer requirements and trends as well as feedback which may impact present/future sales or be valuable for improvements and new developments
• Prepare reports on sales activity, customer status, quotations, order prospects, customer visits etc as required

The role will be based at Alderley Park, Cheshire, but will require some travel both within the UK and internationally. Due to the travel required for this role, candidates must have a current passport and valid driving license.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Good IT literacy skills and competency with Microsoft Office tools and preferably with CRM systems
• Science (or related) Masters degree (2.1 Hons or above). A PhD level qualification would be advantageous
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in contract research, pharmaceuticals or related area in a commercial/sales/business development role
• Experience developing quotations and sales proposals including their effective presentation
• A proven track record of new business generation, account management and development
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to build rapport, quickly and effectively
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and customers
• Direct experience of working in cell culture, regenerative medicine or hydrogel material research would be a distinct advantage
