UKHSA’s Specialist Microbiology Services (SMS) is a network of 8 specialist clinical laboratories providing a comprehensive range of clinical microbiology, molecular diagnostic, and wider public health microbiology testing services to both the NHS and the private healthcare sector. SMS also includes 3 dedicated food, water and environmental (FW&E) testing hubs, who undertake statutory testing for the NHS, local authorities, and key industry partners.
