2020 BioCap Call for Company Pitches Winner Bionow are delighted to announce Gendius as the winner of the 2020 BioCap Call for Company Pitches Competition.

The BioCap Call for Company Pitches Competition is a unique opportunity for companies who are seeking investment, to present to the international life science investment community, more than 60 of whom were present at the 2020 BioCap Digital Conference which took place on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th November.

The BioCap Conference provides a unique meeting place connecting life sciences businesses, researchers and investors. Navigating the life sciences funding landscape and identifying the life science investment opportunities that will advance and support the success of your business, BioCap offers a great opportunity to further discuss future collaborations in one-to-one meetings, helping businesses to realise their full potential, whatever your funding requirements are.

Gendius was founded by Chris Genders and Rory Cameron with a view to making living with diabetes easier. The company has developed Intellin® - Intellin is a new type of platform that helps you to live with diabetes. For the first time, you can have a personalised assistant that help you make good decisions, every day, about how best to decrease the risk of complications from your diabetes.

Gendius CEO Rory Cameron commented “The BioCap pitching competition was a fantastic opportunity for us to get our ground-breaking risk management platform for diabetes, Intellin, out in front of the life sciences investment community - and of course we are very pleased to have won!”

“We firmly believe that our digital risk management technology is the future for people with long term conditions, and that has been confirmed by the dramatic reduction of in-person support services we have seen this year due to COVID-19. Giving people the tools to manage their own health effectively not only empowers the patient, but also gives clinicians a greater insight into their patients, and how they are coping with their conditions.”

“As a Company, we have seen extraordinary growth in 2020, and are looking forward to some very exciting new developments in 2021, so the future looks very bright for Gendius.”

Head judge Emma Johnson from Catapult Ventures said “Catapult Ventures are pleased to award Gendius the title of Winner of the BioCap 2020 Pitching Competition; delivering a pitch within the time constraint of 8 minutes is a challenge under any circumstances and all the participants are to be applauded. Gendius has come a long way since first becoming known to Catapult Ventures and their performance was highlighted as deserving of the award by all members of our judging panel. Congratulations, Rory!”

Geoff Davison, CEO of Bionow added “We were particularly impressed with the quality of the applications received this year and congratulate Gendius. BioCap was conceived 9 years ago to increase the visibility of the impressive life sciences opportunities in the North and the number and quality of investors now involved with the event shows the quality and breadth of opportunities in the North of England”

We are am extremely grateful to the competition judges Emma Johnson of Catapult Ventures, Tracy Weightman of Bridge Valley Venures, Ana Bernado-Gancedo of Amadeus Capital Partners, Rebecca Todd of Longwall Venture Partners and Tanel Ozdemir of Albion VC.

BioCap is organised by Bionow in partnership with RSM, Appleyard Lees and Slater Heelis and is sponsored by Catapult Ventures and Bruntwood SciTech.
